Private Multi-Day Yamanashi Wine Tours: Two or Three Days

Spend two or three days exploring Yamanashi wine country personally with Morey — your locally based, bilingual English-speaking guide and the founder of Winery Tours Japan.

One day in Yamanashi is an excellent introduction to Japanese wine. With two or three days, there is more time to discover different producers, compare wines and enjoy the local food, scenery and people without feeling rushed.

Winery Tours Japan offers private multi-day Yamanashi wine tours in the Koshu Valley, including Katsunuma and Enzan. The two-day experience is devoted to wine; the three-day experience combines two wine-focused days with a day exploring Japanese sake and whisky. Morey personally plans and guides your private group; both formats can be customized to suit your interests.

TWO DAYS · WINE-FOCUSED

Private Two-Day Yamanashi Wine Tour

¥85,000 per person

Based on two guests · Custom routes and requests quoted individually

Two guided days offer time to visit typically around ten wineries across Yamanashi’s Koshu Valley. The route may include historic wineries, smaller family-run producers and different approaches to Japanese winemaking, depending on opening days and available tastings.

One of the pleasures of a longer visit is comparison. You may encounter several expressions of Koshu alongside Muscat Bailey A, Chardonnay, Merlot, sparkling wines or other Yamanashi releases. The wines and wineries are selected around the interests of your group and what is available on your dates.

The standard two-day experience includes two seasonal farm-to-table lunches and all standard scheduled winery tastings on the confirmed itinerary. We plan the route to give each day a natural pace, rather than rushing between tasting rooms.

Best suited to: Guests who want more time with Japanese wine, interesting producer contrasts and an unhurried private experience.

THREE DAYS · WINE, SAKE & WHISKY

Private Three-Day Yamanashi Wine, Sake & Whisky Tour

¥130,000 per person

Based on two guests · Custom routes and requests quoted individually

The three-day experience adds a broader introduction to Japanese drinks to the wine journey. The usual format is two days visiting approximately ten Yamanashi wineries and another day with selected local sake and whisky experiences.

This gives us time to explore both the variety of Yamanashi wine and the different traditions behind Japanese sake and whisky. The confirmed visits, tasting options and sequence depend on the operating schedules, reservations and availability of the relevant producers.

The standard three-day experience includes three seasonal farm-to-table lunches and all standard scheduled tastings and listed visit fees in the confirmed itinerary. Specific distillery or brewery access, private appointments and particular products cannot be guaranteed in advance.

Best suited to: Guests interested in Japanese wine who also want to explore sake and whisky with a bilingual local guide.

Meet Morey — Your Bilingual Local Guide Throughout the Journey

I’m Morey, the founder and personally involved guide behind Winery Tours Japan. I’ve lived in Japan for about 35 years, including around 15 years here in Yamanashi’s Koshu Valley. I guide in English and Japanese, and my experience comes from living here, visiting wineries, tasting Japanese wines and getting to know the people who make this region special.

When you book a private multi-day tour, I personally plan the itinerary and guide your group. You won’t be joining a scheduled bus tour or handed a generic list of winery appointments. We can talk through what you enjoy, whether you’re relatively new to wine, an enthusiast or someone in the wine trade, and I will use that understanding to shape the experience.

Over the years, I’ve developed working relationships with local winery owners and staff, restaurants and other people throughout the region. Those connections help me navigate tasting arrangements, explain Japanese wine and act as an English-Japanese interpreter when needed. They do not mean any particular private tasting or winemaker meeting can be guaranteed.

Two or three days allow me to show you different sides of Yamanashi, rather than concentrating everything into a single itinerary. We can compare established and small producers, discuss the decisions behind the wines, enjoy seasonal local food and leave room for a spontaneous stop when it fits the day.

The advertised formats are starting points, not rigid group-tour schedules. A different pace, particular wine interests, a special occasion, seasonal food or cultural stops, and premium tasting possibilities can all be discussed. When a request changes the scope or cost, I will explain that in the individual quotation.

For more about my background and the way I guide, see About Winery Tours Japan and Morey.

To understand the landscape and winery areas in more detail, see my Koshu Valley and Yamanashi wine-region guide. If you’re interested in a grape you’ll encounter throughout the region, my Koshu wine guide explains its history and styles.

Why Explore the Koshu Valley Over Several Days?

More time does not simply mean a higher winery count. Even producers working with the same grape can create very different wines because of their vineyards, approaches to winemaking and decisions in the cellar. A longer journey makes those differences easier to appreciate.

There is also more time to enjoy Yamanashi itself. Between scheduled winery visits, the route may allow for seasonal fruit, a rural landscape, a local shop or a brief cultural stop that fits naturally with the day. Such extras depend on timing and circumstances rather than forming guaranteed inclusions.

Prices, Inclusions and Accommodation

2-day Yamanashi wine tour¥85,000 per person
3-day wine, sake & whisky tour¥130,000 per person

Both prices are per person, based on a booking for two guests. The standard two-day program includes approximately ten scheduled winery visits, scheduled standard tastings and two lunches. The standard three-day program adds a sake and whisky day and includes three lunches and the standard scheduled tasting and listed visit fees in its confirmed itinerary.

Both are private guided experiences. The winery schedule, daily local transportation arrangements, meeting points and any requested customization are described in your individual quotation. We do not promise a particular winery, brewery, distillery, wine or premium appointment before it is confirmed.

Accommodation is not included or booked by Winery Tours Japan. I can suggest suitable areas and places to stay, but guests arrange and pay for their accommodation independently. Travel to Yamanashi, personal purchases and wine bottles are not included.

If you’re primarily seeking premium wines, special tasting appointments or higher-end dining, our private Luxury/VIP wine experience may be a better fit. It is a separate, more extensively customized service rather than the standard multi-day package.

Meeting in Yamanashi and Planning Your Stay

We arrange an agreed local meeting point in Yamanashi / Koshu Valley (Katsunuma/Enzan area) based on the itinerary. The exact meeting and finishing details are confirmed in advance; there is no assumed Tokyo hotel pickup.

For visitors coming from Tokyo, JR Limited Express trains from Shinjuku usually reach Kofu in approximately 90 minutes. Train planning guidance can be provided after confirmation. You do not need to self-drive between winery tastings.

Tell me where you expect to stay so I can advise on practical daily arrangements. Answers to common booking, transportation and tour questions are also available in the Winery Tours Japan FAQs.
